So where to? Manhattan neighborhoods with a mix of business and residential is where it's at. Gramercy for example combines both. So now what is an Irish bar?
Many of the bars around NY that call themselves 'Irish Bars' wouldn't last a wet week in Ireland. In Ireland we don't have bars....we have pubs.

So what makes a NY bar into an Irish Pub? Use this checklist to make sure you end up spending the night the way we do back home...

• it has a neon shamrock outside.
• the name starts with Mc... or O'......
• the bartender has red hair.
• it sells Guinness.

• you'll know someone else at the bar.
• you can't find a clock with the right time.
• look around you; the walls look like they can tell many's the story about nights you can't remember!
• your grandfather may have been the last one to paint the place.
• you may not be able to understand the bartender, smile and tip ;)

So if you do end up in an Irish pub, such as McCormack's, here's a few pointers to make sure it works out as planned:

• Put in a good foundation for the night; a good feed of our 'Dublin Style Fish & Chips' will provide soakage for the night!


• Everybody bounces around on a night out but you will get separated: pick a venue. Make an arrangement with friends, if you get lost, phone battery is dead etc etc
